Blue Angels flyovers during Fleet Week in San Francisco

Blue Angels in San Francisco

A photoblog entry I’ve forgotten to mention: Blue Angels flyovers during Fleet Week in San Francisco, USA. This spectacular event in San Francisco is only one of many demonstrations the Blue Angels give annually. According to the statistics mentioned on their site, «an estimated 11 million spectators view the squadron during air shows each year.»  Apart from the squadron and its magnificent flyovers, this photoset is a clear example of what happens when you’re shooting an event without the right gear — and actually without knowing it’s going to take place. Thinking of plain street photography session, I was equipped with Canon 5D Mark II and the standard zoom EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM, which without any doubt is a grand lens, but with the Blue Angel F/A-18s flying high in the sky, I certainly missed a telephoto zoom lens. Next time better.
