Finally immortal like totally!

A Belorussian journal Freeday.by has listed me in its TOP-10 of the most famous expats in history of my hometown Grodno (Belarus).

Léon Bakst, Self-portrait, 1893, oil on cardboard, 34 x 21 cm.

Among the other immortals you can find Léon Bakst (the mentor of the famous painter Marc Chagall, “Russian painter and scene- and costume designer. He was a member of the Sergei Diaghilev circle and the Ballets Russes, for which he designed exotic, richly coloured sets and costumes“: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Léon_Bakst), Paul Baran (a.k.a. father of the Internet, «engineer who was a pioneer in the development of computer networks. He was one of the two independent inventors of packet switched computer networking, and went on to start several companies and develop other technologies that are an essential part of modern digital communication»: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Baran) and of course Meyer Lanskyknown as the “Mob’s Accountant”, was a major organized crime figure who, along with his associate Charles “Lucky” Luciano, was instrumental in the development of the “National Crime Syndicate” in the United States. For decades he was thought to be one of the most powerful individuals in the country», source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meyer_Lansky).

Especially the presence of the latter, legendary megamobster Meyer Lansky, calls me for extreme modesty. How the hell should I ever match the outstanding achievements of one of the founders of the world’s one and only Sin City — Las Vegas?

And besides, I only occupy the humble 9th place of the TOP-10 list. Just above one of the people to sign Israel’s declaration of independence and thus one of the founders of the State of Israel, a political leader of the religious Zionism Haim-Moshe Shapira, who served as the first Minister of Internal Affairs of Israel under David Ben-Gurion (and later also as Minister of Health, Minister of Immigration, Minister of Religions and Minister of Welfare: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haim-Moshe_Shapira).
